The Most Important Supplement You’re Not Taking

If I could only take one supplement, this would be it. That’s a pretty bold statement, isn’t it? It’s true though. This specific supplement stands out from the crowd in many different ways. The benefits of this supplement are as undeniable as the amount of research and studies that back up its claims. More than 50% of the worldwide population is actually deficient too. That’s pretty alarming if you think about it. As human beings, we are only able to get a minuscule amount of it from our diet. We even try to increase our consumption of it by trying to eat more foods rich in it. You can try to get it from foods but it only comes in a form that our body is incapable of using. So that doesn’t really help much either. It regulates so many bodily functions that it is actually considered a pro-hormone more than a supplement.

The benefits and associated increased risk of deficiency are staggering! A deficiency is associated with increased risks of autoimmune disorders, cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, and cardiovascular disease. On the flip side, the benefits include a boost in overall mood, reduces depressive symptoms, potentially improves fat loss and strength, enhances bone health and calcium absorption, improves immune system function and regulates the turning on and off of over 900 genes in your body.

By now you might be thinking that this is some sort of super-secret revolutionary supplement that you’ve never heard of. It’s actually Vitamin D3 and is most likely the most powerful and health promoting supplement that you’re not taking but should be.

Vitamin D3 regulates neuromuscular functioning in the muscular and nervous systems and has a large impact on protein synthesis. Studies by ACSM’s Health & Fitness Journal suggest that people with low levels of Vitamin D3 have decreased strength, weakness and muscle wasting symptoms. Now I’m not a physician nor is this medical advice, but you should definitely consult your doctor the next time you have a chance. For me personally, this is the one supplement where I notice a huge change and difference when I take it consistently.
